Wood slat headboards and bedroom feature walls

± 3 minutes

At a glance: Design a wood slat headboard with acoustic panels. Plan the width, height, bedside lighting, sockets and finish for your bedroom.

Frame the bed with a wood slat wall

A slat-panel headboard adds texture behind the bed and can define the sleeping area without another piece of furniture. Choose a low horizontal headboard effect, a full-height feature or a section that extends beyond the bedside tables. The width should relate to the bed and the surrounding wall.

Choose your finish in the bedroom

Light oak pairs naturally with linen and pale flooring. Walnut and smoked oak give a warmer, deeper contrast. Black oak creates a stronger feature that benefits from balanced lighting. Compare samples next to bedding and under bedside lights; colour photographs alone cannot show how the real veneer will look in your room.

Plan sockets and wall lights before fitting

Mark switches, sockets, lamps and cable routes before cutting the panels. Keep electrical connections accessible and have alterations carried out by a qualified professional. Check that the added panel thickness works with fittings and the bed position. Heavy lamps or shelving need suitable fixings into the wall, not just the felt.

    Measure, cut and finish

Standard Adeqo panels are 60 cm wide and available in 260 or 300 cm lengths. Cut to the required headboard height and plan the remaining pieces to avoid unnecessary waste. Matching end trims finish exposed sides. Install on a suitable wall with appropriate adhesive or screws; ceilings always require mechanical fixings.

    Understand the acoustic benefit

The felt backing absorbs some reflected sound inside the bedroom, especially where floors and walls are hard. It does not soundproof the room against neighbours or guarantee a particular sleep outcome. Let the design work with curtains, rugs and other furnishings, and ask Adeqo for help calculating your material list.
