Office acoustic treatment cost: build a realistic project budget

± 3 minutes

The cost of office acoustic treatment depends on what the room needs and how the material will be installed. A price per square metre is only part of the budget. Start with the acoustic aim and a layout so quotations cover the same work.

Define the problem before pricing the solution

Long reverberation in a meeting room, speech distractions in an open office and confidential conversations through a partition need different measures. Absorbent finishes can address room reflections, while privacy or sound insulation may involve construction work. Keep those scopes separate so a decorative panel quote is not mistaken for a complete acoustic upgrade.

Calculate materials from a panel layout

Measure the proposed treatment surfaces, then allow for cuts, openings and usable offcuts. A 260 × 60 cm panel has a nominal area of 1.56 m²; a 300 × 60 cm panel has 1.80 m². Those figures do not include waste, trims or the effect of panel orientation. A drawing produces a more useful order quantity than dividing room floor area by panel area.

Include the installation and finishing detail

List suitable fixings, edge trims, supporting framework and any additional acoustic material required by the design. A framed installation can add labour and materials compared with direct wall fitting. Electrical changes, wall repairs and coordination with other services are separate items. Use the tested arrangement when a stated acoustic performance is required.

    Ask for comparable commercial quotations

Specify the finish, dimensions, quantity, delivery location and access or unloading needs. Clarify whether VAT, transport, installation and waste removal are included. Use current prices or a dated project quotation; a historical blog price is not a commitment for a new order. Phase-by-phase purchasing may also affect colour matching, transport and scheduling.

Judge the project by its practical outcome

A lower material price is not necessarily a lower finished cost if it changes labour, waste or required treatment. Equally, avoid justifying a purchase with an unverified productivity or sickness reduction percentage. Adeqo can help prepare a materials quotation from the room drawings, with the acoustic requirements and installation scope identified separately.

    Frequently asked questions

How many acoustic panels does a meeting room need?

Calculate from the room dimensions, existing surfaces, acoustic aim and a proposed panel layout. Include cuts, usable offcuts and trims. Floor area alone does not determine the quantity; a project with a defined target may need an acoustic assessment.

Is an acoustic mounting frame worth the additional cost?

Compare the tested performance and project needs with the additional framework, absorbent material and labour. A framed arrangement is not automatically better for every project, and a claimed rating must match its tested construction.

Can I request a quotation for several office rooms?

Yes. Provide a room-by-room layout, finish choices, quantities, acoustic requirements and delivery details. Clarify which costs include VAT, transport, installation and other work so quotations are comparable.
